“Winter”
February 2, 2005

We took off in San Francisco to Memphis Tennessee. As we were flying we did not know what to expect when we got home. We were excited but had some mixed emotions on how my husband’s parents would be health wise?

It is funny when you fly or wait in the airport there are a variety of people. Some are so stressed out and some are happy go lucky. It was 2 weeks before Christmas and the day we left California the weather went from one extreme to another. From 45 in San Francisco, 70 in Phoenix, and 24 in Memphis I realized that is what life is like.

One minute I am comfortable and the next minute I am extra warm. Is that like you? Are you happy and joyful about life one day and the next get slammed with a difficulty that brings a cloud floating over your heart?

Well I am here to say Winter Vacations are great but when life hits you like a winter freeze it has a way of humbling you. When God is trying to get your attention sometimes he permits that freeze so you will run to him and bask in his warmeth.

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:14

As I drove down the highway from Memphis Tennessee to Mississippi, I really felt like we were the only people on the freeway. It gave me time to think of God being with us as I drove. I love those moments when outside its freezing but in his presence I am warm and feel loved. I love it!

“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.” Matthew 6:22

My eyes of course were focused on this lonely road but guess who was with us in the car, our Lord? My eyes were fixed on him as I drove and my husband slept off and on.

When I drive I am able to commune with God in ways I never dreamed of. I get to talk to him, praise him, and even sing to him. My winter vacation allowed me to commune with God on many occasions and for that I praise him. I am grateful for those times when God shows me I need to snuggle closer to him and receive what he has in store for me throughout my day.

Ever had a time when you were needing a snuggle from the Lord? Ever felt abandoned on the road of life? Have you experienced a lot of change that threw you for a loop?

Well I have good news for you…

Jesus is just a breath away, a moment so fast our eyes cannot even flicker fast enough. All we have to do is call him up…

We are always going to have winter but the great thing around the corner is spring. That wonderful time when you can recommit your life to the one who made the seasons.

Father spring is around the corner and I thank you so much for warming my heart throughout my day. Help me to recognize your voice and gentle touch on my brow. I love you Lord. In Jesus Name. AMEN

Valentine's is around the corner! Show your love by saying "I love you."
