“It’s A Whole New Year” January 7, 2004
Never in a lifetime would I have believed to be alive today. As a young girl 2004 was an eternity from where I was viewing time. Yet, today as I am thinking of this new day, I now look at 2004 as a whole new year with great expectation. A time for fresh beginnings, fresh starts, and a fresh walk with Jesus Christ the Lord. A challenge in the world I live in and a challenge with how God will use me in a fresh new way. I use to think that 2003 brought much pain as his servant but as I look back to those days, I actually can see victory for what I learned through it all. Jesus never promised me a “rose garden” but He did promise me peace amid trials. So here I am seeking God for ways to encourage others in our world on how we can look to 2004 with great expectations. So here we go…. How can I encourage you to dive into God’s Word this year and to be consistent in that commitment? How can I encourage you to pray without ceasing? How can I encourage you to run to God first no matter what? Here is what God encouraged me to share with you. The other day I received a phone call that greatly distressed me. Yes, I first took it in emotionally and sure enough my emotions started to work on a solution that only God to perform. Ever experienced that in your life? That phone call that totally knocks you off your chair or off your feet. Well, here is what God impressed on my heart when I went into self-mode. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on thine own understanding.” Psalm 119: Isn’t it awesome when the Holy Spirit is there to guide you to trust the Lord? I love it!
I actually am beginning to see a newer realization that God knows my heart and He is ready to guide me if I will just wait and listen to Him. That is a fresh new beginning for me because it is such a temptation to rub my own salve on a brewing sore of life. Then after allowing God to interject peace in my soul I found it to be the best “holy salve” poured on me. Then running to God when I think I am going to take control of my life is the best. Why? Running to the Lord in his Word is where my help comes from. Power to not let circumstances rule my being. Power to know God is not mocked about things done to his children. Power to know he is present in all circumstances. Power to know he can be trusted no matter the cost. After God has showed me where he would have me be I lay my life before him knowing he will not disappoint me. Yes, I will disappoint myself but he will never leave me to fight the battle alone. So, this whole New Year of 2004 is an exciting time for all of us who are believers in Jesus Christ. Why? We are one more year closer to his return. Hallelujah! As in Revelation we see a picture of the heavenly
hosts worshipping the Lamb of God. HOLY, HOLY, HOLY Yes, Jesus is coming again but this time we go home with him. AMEN AMEN AMEN It will be a whole new world in his heavenly kingdom…
