"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free."

John 8:32

"The Truth Shall Make You Free"

October 15, 2003

What is truth? How do we discover it in this vast world of confusion? What is in us that drives us to find it? These are questions we all ask in search of the truth.

It may be hard to admit this but we have a deep desire to find the truth in the life we have been given. Truth is fact, actuality, and honesty. Truth is being conformed to what you believe to be truth.

Fact: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Fact: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

These precious promises are truth and when one seeks the truth God in his overwhelming love shows us the way to him.

How do we begin to search for truth? We have to be honest with ourselves regarding truth. We have to admit that the desire to know truth burns within our very being. We have to open up to the facts set in writing before us and then honestly seek to accept these truths that God has written specifically for humanity. In the Bible we are given a wonderful promise: "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32

Think, that stirring that has been there so long will now find satisfaction. For the Word of God is all truth and many have followed and live these truths in their daily lives.

Yes, there are many out in our world who claim to have the truth but that deep abiding satisfaction that comes from God, through His Son Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit can only be understood when we accept his truth. We are unable to create that wonderful peace that surpasses all understanding. In fact, we can't even order it or bring it about by our efforts.

God desires to have you receive all His truths. He desires to see you receive the most blessed peace within the very core of who you are in this fast world we live.

I remember a time where I sought the truth. My life appeared to be in order and I was convinced this was the way it was going to be. But then that deep abiding reality of not being satisfied with life would always well up in me at the most unexpected times. Whether I was home, in a car, with friends, or even at church. The fact is: I had not been set free.

Those very scriptures spoke to my heart and one night my heart was open to receive the truth. Yes, I was one of the sinners that Jesus died to set free. I was one who heard John 3:16 and finally believed the truth. Today, I have been set free, really set free to be all that God created me to be. I know the truth now and daily I lean on His understanding and Word.

Why talk about truth? Because that is part of our armour when we are living out the daily battles in life. The truth must always be wrapped around us in the power of the Holy Spirit. We must daily be bathed in the truth. This will conform us to God's will and keep us from taking the path of self-destruction.

Ephesians 6:14a says this to us: "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,"

You can seek the truth and God will honorthat seeking by setting you free.

Go, seek, learn, and be wrapped in His wonderful truth.
