“A
True Friend”
September 22, 2004
Being a child of God has many
blessings which include learning about a true friend. Before
I use to just say everybody was my friend but that is not
so as I learn about the realities of life.
A true friend doesn’t
have to be in your presence at all. They can live thousands
of miles away and when we talk its just like we were with
each other yesterday. A true friend is one who tells you the
truth about yourself even the most unpleasant things you don’t
like to hear. This person can say, “You know better
and I want to pray you will look deep inside about that issue.”
A true friend loves you and prays for you. A true friend doesn’t
want anything out of you. A true friend is supportive and
keeps confidences. A true friend is one who helps you when
you are weak in your faith. A true friend encourages you.
I have been so blessed with
true friendship that comes from above. I have been challenged,
taught, chastised, encouraged, prayed for, trusted, cried
with, and loved. God has brought several sweet friends in
my life that has richly blessed me.
In that: I want to be a true
friend to others who God puts in my path in this life. I want
to be one who encourages, prays for, doesn’t expect
anything from, cry with, share with, laugh with, and help
to grow closer to Jesus.
“A man that hath friends
must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh
closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 (will go through
trials and joys with you)

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance
of his friend.”
Proverbs 27:17 (helps you when you are stumbling or struggling)

“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue
is the law of kindness;”
Proverbs 31:26 (speaks wisdom from God and not her own ideas)
These promises all have been
in my life through wonderful friendships. I pray you too will
be challenged to be a “true friend.”
