“Spring”
February 9, 2005
This time of year we see lots of changes. Winter is just about
to make its exit and we are still trying to stay warm. As
my husband and I got to our destination from our trip we felt
tears well up in our eyes as we turned onto the street his
parent’s house is on.
We could already feel the warmth of
inside the house since the temperature outside was a mere
24 degrees. That is exactly what its like to be safely in
God’s light. As we knocked on the door we stood there
excited and when his mom answered the door, welcome arms were
there to greet us. And his dad had slept on the recliner waiting
for us patiently.
Last week I shared about winter but
now as we entered the door we tired traveling strangers were
being warmed up the love in the house we entered. It’s
easy to love someone who loves you. Open arms, hugs, and kisses.
You just take it all in.
God is the same, he is waiting with
open arms for us to be warmed by his love and he is patiently
waiting for us to come to him during our day. How can our
life bud like trees in the spring if we don’t get our
daily nourishment from our Lord?
And Jesus said unto them: “I
am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger;
and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” John
6:35
Jesus tells
us when we hunger for righteousness sake we must come to him
and let him fill us up with bread that completely satisfies.
Every time we are filled with him our lives take on a new
joy and peace. Spring has a way of making us clean out the
old and make room for the new. That is what life is like when
we seek Jesus and ask him to fill us up with his Holy Spirit.
He purges those things we get too comfortable with and He
gives us a new desire to grow deeper in him.
Spring cleaning of our lives shows
us that we have let things maybe take root that shouldn’t
have, it shows us we might have gotten complacent, or we just
got too comfortable for our own good.
“Labor not for the meat which
perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting
life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath
God the Father sealed.” John 6:27
God is calling us to not get really
comfortable in our self made blankets of life. He really wants
us to labor from His filling our lives up with His Holy Spirit.
Not only does the bread satisfy but the living water fills
us up freshly each day. So we labor to glorify God and God
alone.
When was the last time God did spring
cleaning in your life? Were you willing to let him in to discover
those cobwebs of sin and self made labor’s? Do you store
up for winter or trust God to care for you? As winter passes
and spring enters, can you see where God gave you imperishable
blessings?
Lord I love
this time of year. The trees have little tiny buds of new
life coming. Oh Father help me to be renewed and refreshed
so that I can grow deeper in you. Show me what I need to clean
up and how you can give me bread that will satisfy. I thank
you Lord my life which is hidden in you. Thank you for your
arms always open to receive me and thank you that you are
patient with me when I stray or try it on my own. Father I
adore you with everything in me. In Jesus name AMEN..
