Yesterday, I spent a most glorious day with my dad. I consider
it real joy when I can help him and his wife. I find great
joy driving them wherever they want to go. I look at them
as I drive and praise God for being able to serve my parents.
As a woman of God I consider it great joy
to serve my brothers and sisters in His kingdom work. Sometimes
it may not be comfortable but I know whom I believe in and
feel God will enable me to serve even in the toughest of times.
The first thing that goes through my mind
in serving: is the promise or scripture in Luke
9:23. “If any man wishes to follow me, he must deny
himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
I can have to preset motive or anything. I
must empty myself in order for God to fill me up with his
serving and loving ways. Several years ago I had to give up
on some dear passions in my life in order to serve someone
who needed help. I will never forget the fight within myself.
First: I felt it was unreasonable. Second: I couldn’t
see how God would be glorified through it. Third: I said Lord
I just can’t do it. Fourth: I continued in prayer until
God said: Mammy this is the moment I have set for you. Do
you love me?
That is when I know God has specifically called
me to do His will. I just love when he confirms a new job
in his work. I pray always that God would continue to place
me in service where I grow deep in his love. I surely cannot
grow up in Jesus Christ if I do it in my own steam.
Do you need motivation to serve the Lord?
Here are some promises to claim and may God stir up thy gift
in service.

“And that ye study to
be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your
own hands, as we commanded you; That ye may walk honestly
toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of
nothing. “ I Thessalonians 4:11,12
“Servants, obey in all things your masters according
to the flesh; not with eye service, as menpleasers; but in
singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do
it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” Colossians
3:22,23
“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall
stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
Proverbs 22:29
“Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir
up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of
my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but
of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy
1:6,7
