Seek the Lord
May 19, 2004

Remember as children we would play hide go seek? As a child in Sunnyvale, California I remember on the hot summer nights, all the kids getting together and playing this game. When it was my turn to close my eyes and count, I would be so excited as it came close to saying, “ready or not here I come.” Then all the expectation and fears in finding my friends set in. Yes, those days are long gone but this reminds me of when I seek the Lord in his Word.

Yes, I pray, start reading and with expectations ask him to show me what it all means. Then the fear comes in. No not fear of what he will do to me but the revelation he shows me that says I have to make some adjustments. It is not easy giving up self, do you agree? But in seeking God and his righteousness there is no room for self.

Ephesians 5:18 “Be not drunk with wine in excess, but be ye filled with the spirit.”

It is more important to allow God to fill me with him then to fill myself with the world and its ways. If you’re like me you desire God to fill you up with him so your fleshly nature doesn’t creep out of you. So I challenge you to claim and live Ephesians 5:18

“When thou saidist, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.” Psalm 27:8

You and I can commit to seeking the Lord and his directions for our lives each and every day of our lives. Seek his face and let him guide you daily.

“O God thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;” Psalm 63:1

Set a time in seeking the Lord daily. Let him fill you will living water that will flow in your life throughout your day. What a blessing God bestows on us who seek him in all things.

“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.”Colossians 3:1

The scripture above is the question. If ye are in Christ, seek heavenly things from God. Keep your eyes on the Savior so your daily life will have direction.
It is so easy to play hide go seek in the world. Seek the Lord and stay on the road to righteousness that way you can lead others in seeking him.

Lord, this life is full of paths that are not good for us. Help us to seek your path so that we can be useful instruments for you. Oh Lord teach us the paths of righteousness. Teach us how we can be more affective in this world we reside in. Help us to be springs filled with living water. Thank you God when we seek that you show us the way. Thank you Lord that you fill us every day with your spirit fresh and new. We love you Lord. In Jesus Name.
AMEN
