A Mother After God’s Heart
May 1, 2005

Nothing is more precious than a mother who leaves a precious legacy of faith behind her for her family to instant replay. God has a distinct pattern for us to follow as godly mothers.

“Stories heard from a mother’s knee are never wholly forgotten—a little spring that never quite dries up.” G. Ruffini

I remember as a young teenager my grandmother who loved Jesus Christ. I see a picture in my heart of Grandma Mills sitting in the morning sun with her Bible in her lap and she was seeking God through prayer. She was that woman after God’s heart and I will never forget the memory etched in my heart. I too desire to be that mother and grandmother who loves the Lord so very much.

Recently I spoke at a Mother/Daughter Tea and I spoke of “Give Me A Blessing.” The very core of my message was our children and grandchildren asking us to give them a blessing? How many blessing are you going to leave behind to your family?

Proverbs 31:25-31 “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. Speaks wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”

How much are you investing in your responsibility God has assigned you? Are you blessing the children or grandchildren God gave you? Have you shared Jesus with them and prayed for them? Have you taught them to pray by example? Have you taken the time to claim promises in the Word?

Yes, a woman of noble character is my desire and I am sure yours this very day as we celebrate being a Mother.

Lord help us all to be the Mother or woman of noble character. May we in our lives leave blessings behind so that our children and grandchildren may follow you each and everyday. Thank you Lord for lending us these sweet blessings called our children. In Jesus Name with thanksgiving. AMEN

“The God to whom little boys say their prayers has a face very like their mother’s.” James M. Barrie

“Teach my daughter to choose the right path, and when she is older she will remain upon it.” Proverbs 22:6 (Paraphrased by Mammy)
