When I consider praising God
all I have to do is think on what he has shown me since I
have known him. Praising is: admiring our God, exalting him,
commending him, and giving him all glory.
Praising God comes in all
forms from singing, giving thanks, sharing him, giving your
all to him, and loving him. Of course there are many ways
to praise our God.
As I stand in my kitchen window
and I do my dishes I can look either in the morning skies
or evening skies and praise him. I often see a squirrel or
two teasing my cat below and I praise him. When I am driving
on the freeway and have a near miss I praise him. When I look
at my children and grandchildren, I praise him. When I look
in the Word of God I can praise him as he reveals himself
to me. I can praise God for giving me a church to worship
in. And I am learning to consider testing joy and so I can
praise God because he considers me worthy to put to the test.
When I seek him in prayer
I praise him because I know he hears my hearts cry or its
joys. There are so many reasons to praise God. It is God who
is worthy of all our praise. Nothing on this earth can take
the place of the one who loves us so. No person can match
what God has done for humanity.
“I will extol thee,
my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.”
Psalm 145:1
“Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul. While
I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my
God while I have any being.” Psalm 146:1,2
“Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises
unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.”
Psalm 147:1
“Praise ye the Lord: Praise ye the Lord from the heavens:
praise him in the heights.” Psalm 148:1
I love Psalm 148:1 because many years ago we hiked on Mt.
Shasta in California and when we arrived at our destination;
we praised God from the heights. Yes, we could see the clouds
below us and further we saw many mountain tops of other heights.
It was the most awesome time of our lives together.
Praising God is natural when
we just give God glory. We focus on him and out of the flow
of our hearts comes praise.
You can praise God for providing
for your needs.
You can praise God for giving you your family.
You can praise God for giving you the desire to pray.
You can praise God that he stirs your heart to seek him.
You can praise God for sending you Jesus as Savior and Lord.
You can praise God for your friends.
You can praise God for his Word.
You can praise God that he keeps his promises.
You can praise God during your waking hours.
That is why the Word says:
“let everything that has breath praise the Lord.”
Today, just praise your Lord for giving you life eternal.
