Past Behind Me
July 21, 2004

Today I spent time in God’s Word where Paul talks about running the race for a prize. Right before he shares about running the race he writes about God working in our lives. He shares about being transformed in Christ’s likeness.

As I thought on this I asked myself how much have you transformed me my Lord? When I recall the past I can see all the areas in my life where the Lord transformed and renewed my mind. WOW! God has done a work in my life and realistically I have a long ways to go. He is still working on me each and every moment I have breath.

Yes, my past is behind me for Christ Jesus has pointed me in a new direction. Yes, I have a new path, a new Spirit, and a new look on life. All because I came to a point in my life where God spoke to my heart and told me I needed his Son. There was no magic; it was a simple prayer in which I left a changed woman.

Each day when Satan tries to through up my past I say get out of here for my Lord Jesus has transformed my heart and mind. I am no longer deceived by your ways but God is continuously providing a way of escape and I take it. Get out of here!

“There is no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
I Corinthians 10:13

‘Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain.” I Corinthians 9:24

“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.” I Corinthians 9:25

I haven’t reached perfection but I will not let my past dictate to me that God hasn’t worked a work in me. I choose this day to continue to run the race knowing God will change me to His Son’s image. I know when I am tempted my God will supply the escape route. And in the end my prize will be eternal life forever in His presence.

Today are you letting your past rob you of your present hope? Are you on the path where your race will not be hindered? Are you focused on the corruptible or incorruptible?

God has supplied all we need in His Word. Claim and believe his promises and you will see He is working in you.

Father, help me to run the race with you before me and may I never be put to shame by defeat. For God as long as I have breath I want you to still work on me. Change me and transform me to be exactly what you would have me to be. I thank you Lord for your promises. In Jesus Name. AMEN
