Jesus
Is The Reason For This Season
December
1, 2004
Christmas
is just around the corner and I wonder where the hearts of
mankind are centered on. Is your heart set on Jesus or on
the cares of the world?
Imagine
you wake up one day and an angel appears to you with news
of God's blessing coming to earth? Mary did experience this
and we have the exact record in God's Word. Luke 1 gives us
the information.
"And
in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto
a city of Galilee, named Nazareth." Luke 1:26
Have
you ever been surprised with news that blew your socks off
your feet? How did you react to the good news?
I
believe that all good gifts come from God with a purpose.
"The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are
over all his works." Psalm 145:9

I
will never forget when I found out I was pregnant with our
first child. Even though I had all the sickness I still couldn't
believe a baby was going to grow within my womb. I often wonder
if Mary had the same thoughts as I had? I was so excited about
a baby growing in me and how some momths later I would give
birth to our first-born.
Did
Mary dream like me? Was she a little fearful about giving
birth?

In
the weeks ahead we all will think about the greatest gift
ever given to humanity. We will watch all the lights, decorations,
children's laughter, and hustle and bustle of Christmas around
the corner.
"Let
them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellent;
his glory is above the earth and heaven." Psalm 148:13
As
you prepare your homes and lives for Christmas, remind each
family member that "Jesus is the
Reason for this Season."

Dear
Jesus we are so glad you are the reason for us setting aside
Christmas because you came at just the right time so that
we could be free. Oh, Lord help us to teach our children that
Christmas is for living, giving, and giving praise to God
for sending you down to earth to live among us. Help us to
point all our friends to you and when we see strangers in
need to reach out and give them the reason we hope in you.
Thank you Lord for coming from heaven and giving us a reason
to celebrate your wonderful light here on earth. Thank you
Lord for your mercy and grace. Thank you for the nativity.
In Jesus Name.
AMEN
