Mama's Beginning of a Legacy to My Son

Jerry Wayne Lancaster II

Was born in Corinth Mississippi on February 9, 1969. As I lay there waiting for my beloved new born I felt God had granted me the greatest miracle I had ever experienced. As I waited patiently but tired for his weighing in, measuring, bathing, and examination of this miracle...my heart felt like I could jump the highest mountain-top. When the nurse along with my doctor brought this bundle of sweet smells to me, I took him in my arms and hugged and kissed every part of his new born body.

This is his kindergarten picture...I will add his baby pictures soon...

This wonderful gift was an exact representation of the love me and his father felt. I was left alone with this little bundle and I went over every part of his little pink body. Those 10 toes, those 10 little fingers, his little bottom, his tummy, his eyes, his lips, his chin, his head, his ears, his back, his legs, and his little pink cheeks.

Jerry II grew fast in mind and spirit...His first year my little one struggled with respiratory issues but no matter how high his little temperature went...he had the sweetest disposition. He was a huggy kissy little guy and loved all those in his family...He clung to his maw maw a lot during his first 2 years but he also had a great love for his Auntie Tricia. I remember many times he would want to stay there but of course he was spoiled by them lots. I remember the first time he was bought a quarter horse and his paw paw and him sat on it and that little one had no fear. He grew to love horses very much and he knew every name of the horses in the Book of Knowledge. We would be driving and he would say: "look dad and mom that is a Tennessee Walker, or that's a Pinto, or that in a Palamino." So at a very young age of 2 years our beloved son spoke clearly and was quick to learn. He amazed many people when he would sit and talk in conversation with the adults...I too was amazed but took great pride for as I stayed home and cared for him I believed in exposing my little boy to books by the dozens. I would read to him and we would talk and he could memorize many of the books we went through together. Yes, this little gift was amazing.

Because of our loss of this gift on February 21, 2008 I find it very difficult to write and share of what a blessing he was to us but in the next few months I will give a beautiful picture of how God not only worked in our lives as his parents but how God worked in his life as he grew and raised his children.
