Knocking on the Door of Heaven
May 26, 2004

Ever knocked on the door and nobody answered yet you knew they were home? Yes, I know you have and I have experienced the no one is home. But there is one door that we can knock on and it will always be answered.

We who have accepted Jesus Christ can knock on his door at anytime of day or night and he will answer immediately. Now sometimes the answer might be yes, no, or wait on him. I love it, I can knock on the door as he knocked on my hearts door and we can sup or talk with him. Imagine every time we breathe his name or call upon him we are given the right to enter into fellowship with our God.

Tonight during a women’s prayer time on behalf of our church, we cried out to our Lord. I know he heard our knocks on the doors of mercy, grace, and truth. As we entered into preparation to talk with our Savior I knew we were going to enter warfare. Why? Because anytime we seek our God, surrender our lives, confess sin, and declare God as the One and Only God, the enemy is ready to pounce on us.

We were very aware that as we sought God and he opened heaven’s door to our prayers, we would encounter Satan trying to distract us. But praise be to God we were able to enter His Holy of Holies. The place of the deepest intimacy with God. Oh, if I could share what it is like to be in his room where we could tell him our hearts cry.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Matthew 7:7)
What an awesome promise to us from the Bible. God wants us to be fervent and to never stop praying to him. Oh, I just know that it’s so important to live a consistent prayer life for that is where we have continuous peace with God.

There is not one issue in this life that we can’t bring to the Lord and he not show us the way in which we should go or act on it. God has called us to be a people of prayer. He has called us to be a people of faith. God has called us to be a people who seek him with all their hearts. He has called us to be a people who recognize his authority over the entire universe. God calls us to come to him once we are his children.

As we ladies prayed I felt that childlike dependence taking hold of my being. I could actually sense his presence among us and it was such a joy to be in one accord as we sought him. When he visited us in our prayers, he gave us words I know were not ours but what he willed for our church. I share this intimacy with you to encourage you and let you know God hears our knocking on his heavenly door.
In the NT we are told our prayers are a pleasing aroma to our God. “And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odors, which are the prayers of saints.” (Revelation 5:8) Imagine, every time we enter into his heavenly door through prayer we have a sweet aroma that pleases him. WOW!

I pray this little devotional encourages you to knock on the door of God. He is always there for you his blessed child. Enter into his presence, seek his face, worship your king, and praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Lord we thank you that as you call us by name we have the choice to enter into thy holy of holies. Father, we thank you that you hear every uttering or cry of our hearts. Help us to bring glory to you by keeping our relationship with you fresh and renewed each and everyday. Thank you for drawing us to you O Lord. We praise you for all the mercies you have given us. AMEN
