What Do You Plant In Your Garden November 12, 2003 |

Our
lives are like beautiful gardens in spring, summer, fall, or winter.
For a garden to produce beauty we must start with the very basics.
First step: where is the place we want to start our preparation in the soil? Second step: where will the sun and shade benefit my seeds as they are planted? Third step: what steps must I take in preparing the soil I have been given? Fourth step: what will it take for it to produce the best production.
That is what life is like in Jesus Christ when He tends to the garden of our heart. The parable about the soils is a perfect place to start. Here are basic questions one must ask self. What condition is my heart in? Is it hard and rocky? Is it sandy? Is it rich with nutrients from God’s Word? Is it lukewarm (hot one minute and cold the next?) Does it master our emotions? When it receives God’s Word does it hide the Word in our heart or does it exit as fast as it enters? Does it meditate and praise the Lord who is sustainer of life? Or does it take for granted His love that He bestows daily? Does our heart cry out to the one who feeds it or does it feed on its own wisdom? The heart is the garden of life. What we take in with most of our day is what keeps it beating. As we daily take in the Word of God and seek His will for our lives, our heart takes on new life and beats to God’s rhythm. Imagine a life so productive and green with fresh new insights. Imagine how our life would bloom with excitement as we daily sought His views. Imagine how refreshed we would be if He watered us with His water of life.
We need to daily receive directions on how our heart garden can produce beautiful character and attributes that so reflect our Savior. Will you choose to allow our Lord to sow the fruits of the Spirit in your heart?
