The
Fruit of Joy
Joy is elated or intense happiness. It is a spirit of rejoicing in the great pleasure of knowing the God of all joy. Joy is rejoicing in God our Savior. Joy is knowing that someday we will be with the Savior. Joy is the birth of a child. Joy is in marriage. Joy is finding a church home and God using us. Joy is coming together in the highest form of praise and worship. Joy is waiting for Jesus to return and take us home. Joy is having grandchildren. Joy is spending time with our loved ones. Joy is riding on a Harley. Joy is taking care of God’s little pets (dogs, cats, birds, etc.) Joy is knowing God has provided all things for us to enjoy. Joy is seeing God work miracles everyday. The Bible says: “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11
Galatians 5:22 talks the fruit of joy in a believer’s life. When we totally surrender our all we are filled with joy. The joy is assurance about our Lord and his working in our lives. Yes, the joy does reflect on our face but I remember a sad time in which my face did not reflect joy. When my grandmother passed away my heart was broken and the joy you usually see was not on my face. But I had a joy within my heart cries which assured me that someday I would be reunited with grandma. That is the joy that is unspeakable. It is that wonderful assurance of God’s promises to us in this life on earth. So joy is not something we can create or force, it is within our very being that only our God can supply in us.
“Thy words were found, and I
did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine
heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts.”
“Restore unto me the joy of
thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”
“Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” Luke 15:10
Joy is unspeakable because God knew what we needed when he called us by name. Joy is that assurance of the unseen and belief in the future redemption of his children here on earth. Joy is knowing we are forever etched on his palms to never be erased because of His Son’s love. Sing today knowing that the world cannot steal our joy. Father, we thank you for that wonderful joy only you can give. We pray that you will continue to fill us with joy unspeakable and that our lives will truly be full of thine glory…Amen
