“You Gotta Have Faith”
March 24, 2004

Faith is being sure what we can’t see but knowing what we have experienced. Many times we as God’s people are questioned with: “how can you believe what you can’t see? Anybody could have written the Bible? Are you sure you have faith?” Of course there are many more questions regarding faith but God has empowered we who have accepted his grace to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that our God is real...

We are told without faith it's impossible to please God, we cannot pray for lost, we cannot have hope, we cannot have love, and we cannot have his Son Jesus. We know faith because our heart testifies to whether we believe or not.

Faith is a gift from God to those who receive the truth. The truth is God sent His only Son to die for us and give us eternal life. Faith is believing we receive the promise of eternal life. Faith is seeing God work out our salvation in our earthly journey. Faith is knowing we will live in heaven forever.

Without faith we cannot have the assurance that he hears our prayers. Without faith we cannot share the gospel.

“(For we walk by faith, not by sight)” 2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.” Galatians 5:5

“One Lord, one faith, on baptism,” Ephesians 4:5

“Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:5

“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ;” 1 Peter 1:7

Faith is truly the fruit of God that is placed in the life of a believer who is maturing in his faith. We cannot attain faith by works but through surrendering our lives to Jesus Christ.
We have chosen to believe all that God tells us in his Word and we make a practice of leading an obedient life. We love him because he first loved us. We obey because we want to please him. We follow him because he has shown us the way. We trust him because he gave his life for us. In all this we develop a more mature faith in the God of possibility.

It takes a prayer of faith to trust God with our adult children, grand children, and our family. Prayer is trusting God with everything in you to accomplish the petition you have raised on behalf of others. Faith is being sure he hears you and will answer it in his own timing.
I cannot imagine living a life today without faith in Jesus Christ. I consider him my joy in this life as I go through my day. I love the fact as of right now God has heard my prayers as a grandmother and has saved all my grandchildren. Why do I have faith? Because Jesus Christ is the answer to my life’s hope for an eternity in his presence.

Jesus thank you for giving me that blessed hope and faith. Thank you that through my hearts cry you heard and answered. Thank you for your love each and everyday. Thank you for daily reminders of your mercy and grace. Jesus in the days ahead grant me more faith so I may testify how deep and wide your love is. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen…
