This site dedicated to Aunt Eunice and others to what they gave...
|
When I was 16 years old I lived in Mississippi with my grandmother. During my stay with her my Aunt Eunice and her family came for a visit. It is there that I learned and saw what cancer (breast cancer) can do to a body and a family's life. My Aunt Eunice had more courage than any person I know and she stood the fight until her life was taken from such a disease. The thing I remember most is this: Aunt Eunice made sure her family was intact and did not suffer because of her fight. She made sure to the end that their needs were met. She truly was a women who left a legacy of hope to many others who would fight this same battle.
Isn't it an oddity that what we experience in life sooner or later will be applied in our own experience. Yes, I faced breast cancer again through my ex-daughter in law. Several years ago I was her caregiver as she underwent a stem cell bone marrow replacement. In fact: my whole family gave of their time and life so she could be cared for during her treatments, etc. I think the thing that kept me focused on the task at hand, was the very fact my aunt gave her life through experimental treatment so that my (ex-dil and other women/men) could live through their breast cancer fight. I use to lay in bed in the apartment my son rented next to Stanford Medical Center and pray, please God don't let her die. Then it would go through my mind how unselfish my aunt was in her fight. It's like I could give myself under God's care because my own Aunt gave herself. Today because of so many women fighting this disease I dedicate a page in support of those who fight the hard fight for life. By the way, my ex-daughter in law is cured because of the many new advancements in treatment. We will never forget to give God glory and honor for the healing.
Thank you God for Aunt Eunice and many ladies who gave us better treatments in the fight for the cure.... |
