December
31, 2003
It’s a fresh beginning for many as 2004 is just hours
away from us. I look forward to a new year of positive beginnings
and a deeper walk with the Savior. So what can we look forward
to in the year 2004?
We all hear of resolutions
which entitle us to exercise change from last year’s
experiences. Yet, I would rather surrender myself to God of
all creation and allow Him to show me more and more of Himself.
Yes, that is the kind of change that is forever life-changing.
I too have made resolutions to see in the end that I failed.
Yes, failure is always going to be running behind us when
we think in our own steam we can change. So how can we look
to this wonderful New Year with expectation and excitement?
“I
will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh
my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and
earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth
thee will not slumber.” Psalm 121:1, 2, 3
What an awesome promise
of God for us to claim each and every morning we rise up.
A dear friend of mine hosts a group of prayer warrior’s
in her home. What is so beautiful is that her kitchen window
has a panoramic view of hills and my eyes behold them when
we all sit around her kitchen table. There hasn’t been
a time of being in her kitchen that my heart didn’t
claim that promise.
The only commitment
we all should make for 2004 is that we surrender our all under
the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Pray that God would stimulate
our hearts each day to study his Word, pray, intercede on
behalf of one another, help the hurting, and most of all allow
Him to lift our eyes to the hills.
Our help will always
come from the Lord if we trust him. Our feet will be firmly
planted wherever He leads us. Our help will always be available
through our great High Priest Jesus Christ who lives to intercede
on our behalf. With all these thoughts this promise is a nail
in a sure place, He never slumbers. His eyes are always alert
to His children.
My hearts desire
is not to look behind for today calls me to start afresh and
new. This year is another year closer to His return. Is this
worth celebrating? You bet!
Today let this day
be a new beginning for you. Go outside and lift your eyes
to your heavenly Father who cares for you. “Unto
thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.”
Psalm 123:1
