Mammy’s Favorite Picnic July 2007 FCN Assignment 3 rd Semester Camping Was Our Thing
One of my favorite picnic’s was with my grandchildren when they were small. We were camping in the mountainous area around Gold Country and we had all the grandchildren with us. We spent many days swimming and wading by the small lake and then every night we would gather around the campfire to make Smores…During dusk the bats would be passing through our area and of course the Mammy would be ducking and dodging thinking those little bats were out to get her…the grandkids would all be laughing as they watched me make a idiot out of myself. But my most favorite time was when Papa would be asked by the grandchildren to tell them about Polk Salad Mammy. He would sit down and tell them the longest story about my adventures as Polk Salad Mammy. They would laugh and laugh and laugh…He would finish the story after an hour or so and they would say, ”Tell us more Papa about Polk Salad Mammy…Oh, as the years have went by I miss those precious little ones just a running here and there waiting for us to light the fire and sit around the camper and tent. We had a regular camp trailer but we would put the tent up and store our stuff in the camper…we would line up the sleeping bags, dozens of blankets, and all lay down…We laughed till the wee hours and I remember laying there as they slowly one by one drifted off into dream land. We would all listen to people all around us walking through the woods and we would hear even the little critters trying to find munchies to eat. I loved listening to them when we would call their parents…saying all they had done. Once a year until our grandchildren were about 11 years old we would go on a family 2 week trip to build memories. This was one of them. It was during this stay that Mammy had her famous fall in which she broke 2 toes as Papa and the 3 grandchildren were fishing…That one I will never forget… We did the normal picnic’s especially 4 th of July but we in the earlier years just camped during most holidays. If I could do it again I would … the grandchildren are all young adults and I truly miss those wonderful days of swimming, running, hiking, climbing mountains, story telling, and roasting marshmallows for smores.

August 2007 Assignment FCN Assignment In Split Second Their Love Was Eternal
As the couple strolled down the lane hand in hand they suddenly stopped as they heard a loud trumpet from above in the heavens. In the twinkling of an eye each rose hand in hand to a place where they would abide in God’s presence for ever and for ever. The angels were praising and singing and they joined the heavenly chorus….

September 2007 FCN Class Assignment The teacher I remember the most is one named Mrs. Colter. She was very young but very loving. My parents had just divorced and I was so lonely and scared. For some reason she knew I was afraid and that I missed my mother and she just made me feel very loved. No matter what I was feeling she seemed to understand and I felt she was sent by God during that most difficult time. As the years have gone by her name will forever be etched in my mind. Of all the teachers I had she stood out more than any of them. She had kindness and gentleness in her eyes which I won't forget...ever...
