Merry Christmas

I love this time of the year but as the years pass by I am beginning to desire change. Yes, change is good especially if your Christmas has went towards the commercial side of life instead of what we as Christian's celebrate.

A long time ago prophets and men of old were inspired by God to write about this precious gift that would be given to mankind. Yes, that gift is Jesus Christ the Son of God. The promise given long ago by our Ancient of Days has come and now we as God's people celebrate His birth during the Christmas season.

Oh, if only instead of the hustle and bustle of it all we would come together and enjoy what God has given us in his precious gift of Jesus. He didn't come with riches, a castle ... He came in a special way in which many that night came or rode far to see this precious gift God has bestowed on man.

Right now many are preparing to celebrate Christmas but even in church it is a hustle and bustle to get together for Christmas parties, Christmas music, and most of all Christmas Carols. But in all of this are we missing the truth about Christmas?

I remember as a child when Christmas was the next day ... we kids would stay up as late as we could and it was funny because I don't remember when I finally fell asleep. I didn't believe in Santa Claus but it was fun just to pretend. But as an adult Jesus birth is real ... His coming is such a gentle way ... is a sure as when God gave me life.

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them: and they were shore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you great tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:8-11

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." Isaiah 9:6-7

 

 

That is what Christmas is all about ... its about Jesus loving us and coming down to save us. It is worthy of all celebrations. For in the timely manner that God planned "he came forth from a virgin mother who would love him forever and even witness his innocent death on the cross."

So this Christmas please return to the Promise of long ago ... it has come true ... Jesus the Mighty God came and now we have the chance to celebrate his nativity.
