Children Are The Heritage Of The Lord "Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." Psalm 127:3 |
The world would be a lonely place without the new life given to us each and every day. Children are so unique in God's creation. They remind us of joy, laughter, happiness, and truth. They are so open to new things each and every day. They try you, test you, and love you unconditionally. When they start to grow into the teen years your faith is really tested. Sometimes those teen children really bring you to your knees in prayer.
Yet, when they look up into your face with those innocent little eyes you fall in love with them all over again. Most of us know if you ask a child how much God loves them they stretch those little arms out far and say "this much." When my youngest grandchild received Jesus into her heart my life took on a new song. I was absolutely filled with joy and assurance that God would be able to work in her little heart in the days ahead. Yes, being a grandmother is a blessing. I rarely get to see my grandchildren anymore but I can think of them, dream about them, and most of all pray for them. Isn't that what it is all about anyway? The greatest gift we can give our grandchildren is to pray for them.
They are God's little teachers. They speak honestly and openly. They are forgiving and full of love. Here are some wonderful promises from God's Word to claim for your children and grandchildren. For their salvation: John 3:16 "For God so loved the world; that he gave his only begotten SON; that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life." To be loving: I Corinthians 13:13 "And now abideth faith, hope, charity(love), these three; but the greatest of these is charity(love.)" Teach them to pray: Matthew 6:9-13 "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come,Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever AMEN." Show them the right way by discipline: Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Teach them God's Word: Proverbs 2:6 "For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding." Be an example of integrity: Proverbs 11:3 "The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them." Show them Jesus is the Light of the World: John 8:12 "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." Teach them God forgives their sin: I John 1:9 "IF we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Teach them to have a thankful heart: Psalm 145:1 "I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever."
Now the whole key of raising children is this: 1-God first 2-Love for others 3-Respect for adults 4-Example of honesty, integrity, and kindness 5-A Thankful Heart Of course, there are many keys but these are helpful when we search for ways to start teaching our children about the love of God.
A life filled with
energy.
