Psalm 7
May 15, 2005

In our day we struggle to see the justice that God ordained in the beginning. We ask daily where is the justice when a child is taken from his safe home. We ask justice when war doesn’t cease. We cry justice when we are being slandered, scoffed at, abused by words, terrorized by the unknown enemies of God, and finally a society that is going further away from the God who cares we find judgment in our hearts.

“O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:” Psalm 7:1 God desires for us to live justly but he also is a God who is displeased when we do not stand up to the righteousness he has poured out in us. Even though we may be mistreated in today’s society we must still entrust our lives to Jesus Christ the righteous and just judge. So many times we think we are to fight the battle here on earth and it only leads to frustration and defeat.

Our Lord promises he is the righteous judge and we know by personal experience he is. As he told Joshua the battle is the Lord’s we too must learn to release the warfare to our Lord. “Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous. The One who examines the thoughts and emotions is a righteous God.” Psalm 7:9

Each day we can know that our God is able to protect us as is Psalm 7:10 “My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.” We can trust him to judge with a righteous judgment as Psalm 7:11 says: “God is a righteous judge, and a God who executes justice everyday.” I love that promise for our God is watching continuously all the world and how it is responding to his love and mercy.

I love this Psalm for it reminds me that nothing gets past our God Almighty. He is truly the Ancient of Days, Mighty God, and Everlasting Father.

Lord we thank you that we can come to you and ask for justice in the world we live in. We can know you see all things and know that a time will come when you will judge all things in our world. Help me to have a thankful heart because you are a God of righteousness and that nothing will get by you. Thank you for being the Holy, Holy, Holy and may I sing about your love forever. In Jesus Name AMEN
