Psalm 6
May 8, 2005

So many times we wake up or retire for the night with much suffering on our hearts. David experienced suffering or testing in his life. Even when his suffering was brought on by his own sin. Yet, God is merciful and is a God who forgives when we bring our broken lives to him.

I am much like David and when I sin and am broken vessel as a result of my sin I can run to the Lord and cry to him for mercy. “Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.” Psalm 6:2 I can really relate to this for at times I do shake when I have not pleased my Lord but thanks be to God his mercy endures forever.

Then there are times when my life is shaky with the terrors of those who would hurt me. Yes, there is a time in our lives when what we share from our Lord may cause others to bring harm upon us. Jeremiah in the Word spoke from God’s heart and those who didn’t want to hear the truth desired to see him dead. But again thanks be to God for he hears our supplication or plea for help during these trying times.
“The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.” Psalm 6:9

We can cry out to God and he will hear us if we are willing to trust him with everything in us. God has promised to heal us and give us sweet rest in him. God will rebuke the enemy that desires to bring fear in our hearts and we can count on that victory.

When was the last time you felt you could not rest because of oppression? God will hear thy cry and bring peace into your life. He has asked us to trust in him with all our hearts and lean not on our understanding but on his.

We only praise God when our lives are in complete fellowship. I pray you have that sweet peace in your heart and that every night you can rest assured that God is at work for he never sleeps or slumbers.

Lord I ask thee to remind me daily how I can have sweet fellowship with you. Help me to recognize those who would desire to steal my joy and peace in you. Remind me daily that I must bring all unconfessed sin before you and receive cleansing. Thank you Lord for your mercy that endures forever. In Jesus Name. AMEN
