Ever been a time in your life when troubles increased and
brought much sorrow to your soul? David experienced this when
he was fleeing from his son Absalom. Imagine experiencing
trouble and it’s from within your own camp?
Yes, there will be times when we experience
that opposition which we thought would never happen. But David
learned to cry to the Lord and open up exactly what he was
going through. I finally realized in my own life that to hold
back from God the sorrow or attacks within the family brought
me much sorrow and fear.
“Lord, how are they increased that trouble
me! Many are they that rise against me.” Psalm 3:1
I remember feeling exactly
like David when many sought to destroy my testimony and faith
in Jesus Christ. My heart was sinking deeper and deeper into
a depressive state to which it was hard for me to cry out
before my God. “Many there be
which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah”
Psalm 3:2
The life I lived was being
taunted by these who sought to rob me of my beloved joy in
knowing Christ my Savior. It came to a point I had to go directly
to God instead of my friends and tell him all the troubles
that were encamping around me. It was then that God took me
in his everlasting arms and lifted my head and heart to focus
on what He was going to do through it. “But,
thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter
up on mine head.” Psalm 3:3
We must never forget that
when we are in the storms of life and the attacks seem to
be aimed from within the camp that we first should cry unto
the Lord. No not the phone or best friend but run to the one
who holds the universe in his hands.
“I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me
out of his holy hill.” Psalm 3:4
Yes, through that battle that
raged I was unable to sleep and so as I cried out to God he
gave me sweet rest. “I laid me
down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.”
Psalm 3:5 Oh, the sweet sleep that comes with the peace
that surpasses all understanding. It’s a sure thing
that I will go through these storms again but I will be prepared
by running to the Lord and telling him the things that bring
so much sorrow or trouble in my life. I can claim his promises
and when I feel weak in anyway go to his word and stand firm
on what he has said.
“I will not be afraid
of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against
me round about. Arise, O Lord, save me, O my God: for thou
hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast
broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto
the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah” Psalm
3:6-8
We all can learn that our God is all our confidence and we
need not fear what others can do to us. Yes, we are his people
and the sheep of his pasture. God says: he will sustain us
when the storms overwhelm us. God promises what he began in
us will be completed and we can rest assured his word is a
nail in a sure place.
Pray and thank God for being thy confidence
and thank him that we have the freedom to come to him when
the troubles encompass around us.
Father we thank you that you know all the
roadblocks that could afflict us in our lives. Help us to
trust in you and come to you even if we are overcome. Lord
you promise you are our shield and we praise you that you
guard our lives for eternity. Thank you that when fear surrounds
us that you are there to calm and be our confidence. In Jesus
Name. AMEN
