Psalm 18
December 11, 2005
I am grateful for my salvation for my God lifted me from the slimy pit of
dying in sin. Today I can say my God has been my deliverer.
How often do you give thanksgiving to the Lord for what He does in your
life on a daily basis? Those near misses on a freeway, a child’s high
fever that breaks, a family member with cancer who is healed, someone who
falsely accused you, and that God met your needs according to his will.
David told the Lord how much he loved him and told the Lord that he knew
he was his rock, his fortress, and deliverer. Psalm
18:2 “The Lord
is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom
I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”
I love that promise and know there may be times when the waters of life
will surround me but my God will be there to deliver me from drowning. Life
is full of many choices and circumstances but our God is in control even
when it appears hopeless.
God is pure, God saves, God’s ways are perfect, God is light, and
God is deliverer. Throughout Psalm 18 we see how God delivers those who call
upon his name.
As David sung this Psalm, we too can sing the victory song for our God who
delivered David will deliver us today.
Is there something this very day or week that you need to bring to the Lord
and be delivered from? Is it not praying enough? Not studying the Word? Are
you trying to take on something that you should give to the Lord?
Psalm 18:30 “As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord
is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust him.”
Read Psalm 18 and pray through it until you have given the Lord total trust
in your daily life. Pray seeking God’s guidance in dealing with daily
trials and see how he will light your path to peace.
Chrismas is in 2 weeks and so many people are entrapped in the world’s
ways. Pray for someone to be delivered to Jesus and saved.
