Psalm 16

August 26, 2005

It is the last week of this month and as we have looked at he God’s ways for us to have victory. I am sure you have been challenged as you read the previous Psalms. We close this month with David crying out to God to preserve what God has done in his life.

“Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.” Psalm 16:1

Today I would like you to reflect on what God has done in your life and what He is doing this very day. As I type this out in the wee hours I can say, God has been faithful to me this very day. I have seen His glory and felt His presence. I praise God that He is patient with me and fills me with more of Him. As I read the rest of this Psalms I want all that David wanted and I am going to pray this right now.

“O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; But in the saints that are in earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.” Psalm 16:3 Yes, I want to find delight amongst God’s chosen. I do not desire the enemy to rob me anymore of finding great pleasure worshipping God with my brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Lord is all I need for the rest of my life. Is He all you need? Let’s look at another passage: “The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.” Psalm 16:5 Are you really satisfied with Jesus or do you seek approval of man? It is so easy to get caught off guard into your own world. You desire to be loved and accepted by those around you and you miss that precious moment when God will fill you up with His satisfaction. “I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel; my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.” Psalm 16:7

Our Lord will preserve what He has done in our life because of His agape love. He desires to bring satisfaction for as long as we have breath in our bodies. As you continue to read this Psalms, is Jesus the apple of your eye? When you partake of His love, are you really satisfied? Do you want more?

“Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11

How can we lose if God be for us? How can we get lost if God is directing our paths? How can we not see Him, if we are in constant communion with Him? How can we lose focus if He is the apple of our eye?

Today you found out just like David that God preserves what He works out in our lives and also blesses us with fresh new hope everyday. Grab onto Jesus and allow Him to instruct you throughout this day. You have a godly heritage from above.

Lord help us all to find security in thy loving arms. Keep us steady as rocks, fresh as new fallen rain, and always bring thy Word to light in our lives. I thank you Jesus that you are the one true God who delivers promises forever. Now Lord may we abide in you and continue in the path you have set before us. In Jesus Name AMEN
