Drawing Near

We all learn through the years it is good to draw near to God with a sincere heart…What is a sincere heart?

I love the scripture Hebrews 10:22-25…”Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith…Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together…but let us encourage one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

In the last 2 years lives have been put through the fires of affliction…many lives have been tempered by many trials and losses…Affliction brings good or bad out of our lives…we either wallow in the ashes of brokenness or we rise up and draw near to God…Losses take the wind out of our sails in the life we live…but do we sink or do we swim near to God and take His hand to lift us up?

Sincere :

Free of deceit, hypocrisy, or falseness; earnest: a sincere apology: genuine, real: pure, unmixed, unadulterated: sound

Every single day our hearts are tried by fire…Satan tries to rob us of peace with God through daily trials and life changing hurts…He takes a broken heart and suggests doubtful thoughts and if we nurture them…our hope in God is tarnished…But thanks be to God of all hope we can draw near or run to Him as fast as our hearts will let us and God fills us with the full assurance…

So a sincere heart is one free from deceit which draws close to God and in return assurance is returned by God’s power to that heart…We no longer are tossed about but we are steady as our Solid Rock…Now when we are going through difficulties God promises through his people…that we can spur one another towards love and good deeds…its true…its really true…

When we lost our son, our church family and friends who love God with a sincere faith were there…we were held up by prayer constantly…during his fight with cancer we knew God’s people were praying and that is our experience of being spurred…Yes, there were times when hope was so distant yet through their love we were picked up daily and our son kept his faith in God active and alive though his precious body was fading in strength and ability…

The day did approach when our precious child said goodbye to his earthly journey and hello to his eternal life…It was that sincere faith, hope, and love through our church and friends that we got through those days…That hope was kept alive not only through personal sweet surrender but through the power of prayer…Yes, that is sincere faith…

This scripture is a truth and we have seen God bring us through much these last 18 months…My prayer is you too will draw near to God and that He will bring you into a love relationship not only with himself but with his people…

Remember, God is faithful...
