CHAPTER 2

 

READ GENESIS 2:1-20

 

As we recall the Lord has finished creating all his heart desires and the sixth day is complete. God has blessed all his creation and has instructed them to multiply and replenish the earth along with instructions to man to subdue all and be the caregiver. Now let’s look specifically at the seventh day.

 

  1. We see God has finished his work and it’s finished … what do you include in the host of his creation? “host” KJV

 

 

  1. Describe the action God takes on the Seventh day? V2.

 

 

  1. What actions does God pronounce on the Seventh Day? V3

 

 

  1. There is something we are told that has never occurred on the earth … what are we told? What did God cause to resolve this?

 

  1. As we read we see God’s hand directly creating a human being … from this mist on the ground God does what? Read Jeremiah 18:2 along with this … Describe in your own words how you feel knowing this… We are given a name for this being … what is it?

 

  1. What is the soul? A living soul? Describe the action God took so man became a living soul? When you think about a “living soul” have you truly experienced the breath of life within your life?

 

  1. Reread Verses 8-20. The Garden of Eden … What did God do after he created the Garden that is know to be eastward? Why?

 

  1. Describe this wonderful place for man …

 

  1. Name the 2 trees that are in the midst of this garden? What do these trees signify? Why?

 

  1. Now that you see the Garden in your heart and mind … how was it watered and kept nourished?

 

  1. Four rivers are in the Garden … what are their names? Describe where they are at?

 

  1. We see God give his first command to this being … what does he instruct this being? Feel free to say why God has given this instruction?

 

  1. What was this being to do in this Garden?

 

  1. God is a compassionate God who meets needs … in this wonderful description of the being God meets the need … what does God do for his aloneness?

 

  1. Describe all God gives to this living soul?

 

  1. What is the living beings name? What verse do we see him given a name?

 

  1. What doe Adam do amid this Garden?

 

  1. We are given a hint of what Adam lacks … what is this need?

 

Even though we have read this passage many times in our lives it is still rich with our Creator’s love for us. We see God provides a habitat and many creatures to care for … plus we see God is always at work for our good. God rested on the Seventh Day after all this work but we see Creation broke down more so we could appreciate how much love he gave as he designed our home to live in forever. Of course, we know the how the story goes but we can bask in his arms again knowing he had good for us always on his heart. God is good and there is no doubt about it … today give him glory for being Creator, give him glory for his faithfulness in giving us responsibilities as his creation, give him glory because he desires to fellowship with us, and pray for your own person to understand how deep and wide his love is for you.

 

Today as you have finished studying this passage … go in the mirror and look how God has created you uniquely. Do not treat yourself badly anymore … he cares for you. We all have distinct character that came by God’s design … don’t belittle it anymore. If one of your children or grandchildren or even husband has low self-esteem … tell them about God’s hand in their being created in their mother’s womb. Share that God knew them before they took form.

 

Close in prayer and say “thank you Lord for I am fearfully made.”
